Starhaus is a multidisciplinary design studio exploring the relationship between memory, materiality, atmosphere and place. The studio works across architecture, interiors, visualization, objects and creative direction — approaching each project as an opportunity to transform space into something more lasting: a place with identity.

Starhaus was founded by Anna Scharre from a belief that the spaces we remember most are rarely the most perfect. They are the ones layered with history, light, texture, objects, landscape and personal meaning.
The name itself reflects that idea. STAR comes from the initials of the four members of Anna's family, while HAUS is a nod to her architectural and design background.
Together, the name sits at the intersection of family, memory, home and design — the same territory the studio continues to explore.

SHAPED BY MORE THAN ONE HOME.
Anna grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and has since spent time living in Lexington, Nashville, Miami and throughout Southwest Florida.
Moving between those places shaped the way she understands design. Kentucky and Tennessee brought an appreciation for familiarity, craft, inherited objects, landscape and the emotional weight of home. Miami introduced a different relationship to color, modernism, experimentation and tropical materiality. Southwest Florida brought light, water, limestone, warmth and a quieter coastal vocabulary.
Starhaus emerged somewhere between all of them.
OTHERWORLDLY FAMILIARITY.
Southern + Midwestern Organicism is Starhaus' evolving design philosophy — a way of creating contemporary work without stripping away familiarity.
We are drawn to honest materials, natural variation, tactile surfaces, vernacular forms, inherited objects, imperfect textures, deep woods, stone, filtered light, landscape and rooms that feel accumulated rather than manufactured.
But the goal is not nostalgia. Traditional references are abstracted, proportions are reconsidered, materials are placed in unexpected relationships and familiar forms are pushed toward something more contemporary — sometimes even slightly futuristic.
We want to understand why it stays with us.
The result is a design language that feels both new and somehow remembered — rooted in place, but not limited by it.

Anna Scharre is the founder and designer behind Starhaus Collective.
Her background in architecture shapes the studio's approach to interiors, objects, visualization and identity as parts of a larger spatial experience rather than separate disciplines.
Her work is driven by an interest in the relationship between contemporary design and memory — and in how architecture can feel expressive, personal and deeply connected to the places and people that shape it.
